Andrew Jones is basically the Adrian Newey of hifi. If Adrian Newey also designed the Dacia Sandero. He not only designs great sounding, ridiculously expensive 'reference ultimate statement signature' loudspeakers, he also designs $130/pair compact loudspeakers.

I liked the interview from both a gearhead and (somewhat) audiophile perspective. I hope you like it too. I also like Stereophile. Yes, they discount ABX listening tests, but to their credit, they measure the tested components thoroughly.

Interesting read, thanks.

I've got this Pioneer wireless speaker with Andrew Jones' name on it, and it sounds great.

... only to discover that Pioneer USA has these.

At least, I can't seem to find the SP BS22-LR in any European store. The single vendor I find through www.amazon.co.uk has them shipped over from the USA.

Which sucks because I'm looking for ways to assemble a little 2.0 or 2.1 audio system on a budget.

Yes, I found that out too. After I posted this. Apparently, Behringer makes some good value loudspeakers too (2030p has a good reputation). But the business ethics of Behringer are questionable since their products usually have a striking resemblance to products of other companies.

But since you live in the netherlands, a pair of IMF Super Compacts are readily available on marktplaats and sound seriously good. They run about 100-150 euros depending on condition. There are a few shitty, halfwitted, price gouging marktplaats 'traders' think they can sell them for more but don't believe them and bide your time. The midrange surround that's frequently rotten is not hard to repair, but it's a fiddly job.
